Weight loss growth mindset is the only way to be successful, because a fixed mindset will keep you stuck. A fixed mindset is the belief that you are out of control due to factors such as genetics, the environment, your busy schedule, and a history of not being successful. On the other hand, a growth mindset is the ability to grow and change. You CAN adapt with fewer excuses and more solutions. You believe that you MUST change.
Get clarity on weight loss growth mindset
What are your REAL goals? It can’t be physical goals such as a number on the scale. Weight loss growth mindset goals sound like these: “I want to pass down healthy habits to my children, I want to be able to do more activities with the people I love, this is for me and not for social standards,” etc.
What belief systems do you have around food? Is food fuel, pleasure, or a nuisance? Do you eat every bite with guilt and do you only live on salads? If you believe that weight loss is difficult, then you are absolutely correct (unfortunately). Your brain likes to make sure that you are correct, so change your narrative. Consider this: Your mindset around food mirrors your relationship with life, fear, anger, emotions, self worth, etc. This is deep so give it some thought. I’d love to support you around this one. This takes a village.
You are your food. Do you want to be convenient, easy, fast, or fake? Change takes time so don’t give it a timeline because this new change is forever unless you want to go back to yo-yo dieting just to put on more weight. Setting a timeline only induces more stress and less results.
How to eat with weight loss growth mindset
We definitely have to eat with awareness if you want weight loss with a growth mindset. Americans are so stressed, busy, and unaware of how food makes them feel. Stop! Listen, slow down, enjoy eating, and don’t settle. You are worth it.
Dieting is the problem; it causes weight gain! Stop trying to be perfect, black or white, and focusing on all the things you “should” do. Give yourself permission to love and enjoy food. What’s life if you’re permanently miserable? Stress when you’re feeling unsuccessful with your diet or unhappy with the scale actually adds on fat especially in your stomach.
Solutions for weight loss growth mindset
Envision your weight loss growth mindset. You are happier, sexier, more energetic, sleep better, laugh more, live daily healthy habits, and you are fully in control. You no longer use excuses such as “I’m too busy, it’s expensive to eat healthy, I’m older, or my plans just don’t work,” etc. Learn how to cope without emotional eat which after all is often why we gain weight. We eat when we’re not hungry. This is a big one. Let me support you through this psychological warfare (I know it can feel like that at times).
Focus on solutions. You know your excuses on the surface. We’ve already discussed these, but your underlying excuses are fear of failure, not ready for change, or you haven’t owned up to your struggles.
Extra thoughts on weight loss and health
Choose your hard. Would you prefer to feel uncomfortable physically, emotionally, and in your own skin or choose healthy eating, sweating, and making time for health?
Society makes it so hard for us to grow. We are so afraid of failure until we recognize that failure is a part of the journey. That it is perfectly OK. Plus, we focus on gratitude. Gratitude is the antidote to fear and boy is life full of fear. I’m not thin enough, pretty enough, smart enough, successful enough, popular enough, etc.
I sure did hit you hard with lots to process. Take some time, and then give me a call. It’s a lot!!!! Don’t expect to do it all alone. Enjoy the journey!
