Sugar: Tainted Research

With information being at the tip of our fingers, we find ourselves with information overload.  One day an item is good for us and the next day, it’s bad.  The reason being that often times scientists are funded by food industries who have an agenda to increase profits.

The latest headline:  “50 Years Ago, Sugar Industry Quietly Paid Scientists To Point Blame At Fat.”  This is not uncommon.  You’ll find this in so many industries.  It’s really tough for us to weed out bad research but this can be an eye opener or a reminder that we can’t trust all research or headlines that pop up on the internet.

While we are on the topic of sugar, it truly is an important one.  I’ve always told my clients that I’m much more concerned with sugar than fat.  We need some level of fat especially the healthy kind.  Here are some issues with refined sugar:

  • Sugar can damage the heart
  • Sugar may be linked to cancer
  • Sugar promotes belly fat
  • Sugar is addictive
  • Sugar can accelerate the aging process (winkles, diseases)
  • Sugar is linked to type II diabetes
  • Sugar makes us fat
  • Sugar affects our liver
  • Sugar shortens life (due to diseases)

Always easier said than done.  How to get off sugar?  Find out…
