How to live a balanced lifestyle especially in 2023? For many of us, living a healthy lifestyle can be difficult. We find ourselves eliminating foods we love in an attempt to live a healthy lifestyle. Balanced living means achieving optimal health in all aspects of your life. This includes diet, exercise, mental and emotional heath, as well as healthy relationships. Let’s start 2023 off balanced, thriving, and without judgment.
Balanced Lifestyle in Diet
As a society, we over complicate nutrition. Eating healthy does not mean eliminating foods we love and only eating healthy foods. The best way to achieve balance in your diet is by living by the 80/20 rule. This means eating 80% healthy and eating 20% of the foods you enjoy. If you want the cupcake, eat the cupcake! The trick is being mindful of what you are eating and not over-indulging. Paying attention to your portion sizes and reading food labels is key here. Once you understand what the food label is telling you, you can have a better understanding of how much you are actually consuming.
Balanced Lifestyle in Exercise
Many of us struggle with going to the gym or moving our body on a daily basis. If this is not something that is already a part of your daily routine, start adding it in daily. Walking is one of the best things you can do for your body. Set small achievable goals. Track your daily steps, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or simply make it a point to walk 3 mornings every week. Moving your body releases endorphins, the happy chemical in our body.
Balanced Lifestyle in Mental & Emotional Health
We get so caught up in our work that a lot of times we forget to take care of our mental and emotional health. Balancing the day-to-day chaos can help reduce the stress that negatively affects our health. Setting aside time each week to do something you love or getting up a little earlier to spend some quiet time alone are a few things you can do to offset the stress and focus on yourself.
Balanced Lifestyle in Relationships
Where are my people pleasers? Some of us really struggle with saying no to our friends and family out of fear of disappointing them. The result can often lead to feeling exhausted and in some cases under appreciated. While it is important to surround yourself with positive relationships and people that support you, it is also important to set healthy boundaries and take care of yourself.
Support is Key to Success
Making lifestyle changes all at once can feel overwhelming especially with all the conflicting noise on the internet. Humans are hardwired to need support; seek it both personally and professionally.
