Create Healthy Habits That Stick

Create healthy habits that stick.  We all know what that means because many of us are smart and we know what to do.  However, we may not be doing it.  I think it’s important to bridge the gap between knowledge and action to create healthy habits that stick.  Getting support makes this process so much easier but here are some tips to get you started:

Real Purpose for Healthy Habits that Stick

Unfortunately, weight loss is never a good enough goal to make healthy habits stick.  Create a bigger purpose such as being active in retirement or being able to chase your grand kids around.  For me, it’s being able to travel without physical restrictions since traveling is that important to me.

Small Beginnings to Create Healthy Habits

All my clients start with all or nothing.  In the end, that is simply not sustainable.  As I’ve said in previous posts, be mediocre.  Don’t work so hard to be healthy and find yourself struggling so much that you quit completely.  Manageable goals result in success.

Be Specific for Healthy Habits to Stick

I often end a session with clients committing to be healthier and to do better.  Yet, what does that really mean? They too don’t know as we carry on with our hectic day and forget this commitment.  How will you specifically create healthy habits that stick?  Will you commit to X meals you will cook or X amount of time exercising, etc.

Track and Reward Healthy Progress

Unsurprisingly, we are all human and have common reactions.  Most of clients plug away without tracking or even celebrating progress.  We are simply so hard on ourselves.  Confidence grows as you acknowledge progress.  And reward yourself with each milestone by doing something that brings you joy.

Support is Key to Success

Making lifestyle changes all at once can feel overwhelming especially with all the conflicting noise on the internet.  Humans are hardwired to need support; seek it both personally and professionally.  Get a free 30-minute phone consultation.  See if this is the right match for you by addressing natural weight loss, cravings, emotional eating, balanced diet, disease prevention, nutrition, and getting to the root cause of what’s keeping you stuck.  See what others are saying on Google and Yelp.
