3 Things to Avoid If You Want to Lose Weight

I love my job and I love seeing success in my office.  Unfortunately, not every single client succeeds because I don’t own a magic wane and client participation is key.  Here are 3 things to avoid if you want to lose weight:

  1. Quitting.  I watch my daughter fall constantly as a new walker but she gets right back up and continues to walk.  She doesn’t blame her body type, her fate, or punish herself.  No child quits on walking.  One of the most devastating thing for me to witness is seeing people make positive changes and quit because the number on the scale doesn’t reflect what they want to see or improvement doesn’t come fast enough.  In an instant gratification society, we are quick to give up.  Don’t give up on the ONE body that you have.  You’re “learning to walk.”  It takes time.  It takes time to build good habits, fix mental and physical barriers, and allow the body to heal (lose weight) on it’s own.  Please give your body a chance.
  2. Trying Too Many Things.  I’ve witnessed people bounce from diet fad to the next latest fad.  It only confuses the body and slows down metabolism.  Why can’t we keep it simple, build the habits that stick instead of needing the quick fix?  Good things really do come to those who wait.  My clients who have accepted that they just want to feel good (instead of # of lbs lost) are the ones who lose the most weight.
  3. Disregarding the Little Things.  We aim so high and we don’t celebrate the little things but it is the little things that domino effect into great results.  If we can’t accomplish the little things in life, how will we succeed with the big stuff?  Focus on the easy tasks and all else will fall into place.  I’ve noticed that my clients are quick to beat themselves up.  Let’s focus on success and pleasure and you’ll be shocked by how easy weight loss is when we stop the self-judgment.
